For residents heading to a shelter, here are a few essential items to take:

- Bedding such as blankets or sleeping bags
- Additional clothing
- Any important medications, IDs or important documents
Some shelters, such as all of Leon County’s, are pet-friendly. For pet-friendly shelters, residents should take their pet’s crate, leash, food, and medication.
Florida has partnered with Uber to provide free transportation to shelters for anyone who resides in counties under a State of Emergency and need to evacuate. To get a free Uber ride, use the code ‘Helenerelief’.
Additionally, Florida Emergency Management has arranged busses and other resources for Big Bend residents who need help evacuating. Call 1-800-729-3413 for travel assistance and information.
