Ok I'm actually a little confused about this one. With the latest iOS 12 update, Apple has come right out and admitted that they are snooping. But the reason they say they are doing it is to help us, and to protect against fraud. But also, to rate us??
Apple added a new feature in the update where they assign "trust ratings" to iPhone users, based on phone call and email habits.
But maybe don’t freak out yet – the company maintains they’re building your score based on the number calls and emails you send and receive – so they can help spot fraudulent transactions made using your device.
Also, the company maintains that they aren’t actually seeing/hearing the contents of your communications – they’re merely tracking the score and saving it on their servers for a time. The thing is...while Apple swears this is simply to prevent fraud, they haven’t explained how knowing the number of calls and emails you make or receive can help stop it.
