Well, it had a really good run, but the CD is about to go extinct.
Last year, Ford made its first car in 25 years without a CD player and now, Best Buy, one of the biggest retailers of music in the country, will stop selling CDs in July. K-Mart made the decision to stop selling CDs back in 2016, and Target is now switching to a consignment model -- where they wouldn't have to pay suppliers for CDs that don’t sell.
I guess it's not a big surprise that CDs are almost gone. But they had a good 30 years, didn't they? Maybe they'll make a comeback one day similar to vinyl records.
