A Palm Beach County middle school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a minor is being held on $260,000 bond after a court appearance this morning.
32-year old Christopher Withers is charged with multiple counts of lewd and lascivious behavior on a victim ages 12 to 16.
He was the seventh-grade math teacher of his alleged victim who says Withers "took on the role of a mentor" after the death of her father as she entered the eighth grade and from there a sexual relationship ensued.
During a controlled call between the two, police say the man told the girl that he ruined "a beautiful relationship" and later admitted to detectives that he had sex with her as many as 10 to 15 times.
The principal of Watson B. Duncan Middle School in Palm Beach Gardens says Withers will not be returning to campus.
