Carrie Underwood Reveals Why She Would 'Lose Respect' For Live Performers

Carrie Underwood knows that it’s important to be on her A-game when she performs live, and as her “Denim & Rhinestones” Tour gets underway, the country music powerhouse is reflecting on times that she’s lost respect for artists who missed the mark during live shows.

Underwood spoke with Rolling Stone as she kicked off her highly-anticipated tour, which opened with a sold-out show at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina on Saturday night (October 15). Underwood told Rolling Stone: “I love to sing, and I've always taken pride in the work I've put in on my vocals. I do want to sound good. Growing up and going to concerts or seeing my favorite artists on TV, if they didn't sound like they were supposed to sound, it was always so deflating.

“I'd lose respect for them. Or when I'd go to a concert and hear them drop keys, I was like, 'You can't hit the notes! Why'd you record them if you can't sing them?' That stuff is important to me.”

So far, Underwood has seemed to amaze her audiences at the “Denim & Rhinestones” Tour, with breathtaking aerial work, pyrotechnics, stunning wardrobe looks and, of course, fan-favorite music spanning her career. See some of the photos she's shared below.

The “Ghost Story” powerhouse also went on in her interview to reflect on the iconic moment she teamed up with Axl Rose onstage during the 2022 Stagecoach festival earlier this year. Over the summer, she joined Guns N’ Roses at the UK’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Read Underwood’s full interview with Rolling Stone here. See Underwood’s remaining tour dates below.
