Every Saturday from March through November, Ponce de Leon Park in the downtown Chain of Parks comes alive with local farmers selling fresh produce, regional artists and artisans peddling their works, and entertainment provided by musicians, authors and poets.
Each Marketplace Saturday begins at 9 a.m. sharp, marked by the sound of bagpipes music in the air. Heralded piper and downtown resident Sean McGlynn leads the merchants in the Mercat March, opening the day with fanfare and flair.
Special events at the Downtown Marketplace include hands-on art activities for children and occasional sneak previews of upcoming cultural events.
